Blogpost 9: Chris Brown "I'm Still"

Christopher Maurice Brown (Chris Brown) is a R'n'B singer with a string of controversial moments that have overshadowed his career in music. He is currently on probation for attacking his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. After winning a Grammy Award, he angrily tweeted a four-word expletive rant at people who were upset that he was given the trophy despite his dark past. Chris Brown is also known as breezy a nickname t-pain gave to him. Chris brown had been to a lot of dance movies one is stomp the yard the next is battle of the year that recently came out in the cinema's. Chris brown is one of the most best hip-hop artist for me besides his skills in dancing, singing. He has the swag and the guts to be a famous star and artist.

According to the first article entitled Chris Brown Raps: Everybody Slept With My Ex — Dissing Rihanna? by Emily Longretta Chris brown disses rihanna in the song " I'm Still" this song is were Chris Brown is featured in a song of DJ Khaled  new song. He doesn't named Rihanna in the song but they have said that she has the right to be offended because she is absolutely referenced in the song I'm still. Brown didn't mention Rihanna's name, but listeners know whom he refers to. "Every n***a in the industry done fucked my b***h/ And all my n***as said I told ya/Now all these rap n***as wanna be political/ Nah, f**k that I'm a real lyrical killer," he raps.

According to the second article entitled The Psychology of Bitterness: 10 Essential Lessons bitterness is experienced when you have loved someone. Bitterness is scenario where you can get over from the past that is already gone, meaning the memories that you can't forget that keeps budging to your mind. Bitterness is a deep anger and resentment. Bitterness is an emotion which encompasses both anger and hate, often people who are bitter appear to the world as just going around pissed off at everyone and everything. However bitterness is often a result of some past event which has hurt, scarred and jaded the person.

In conclusion all of us have experienced being bitter but is it necessary that we hurt someone and we still keep getting on their nerves, i think not past is past we should not remember the memories that have seem to have gone wrong. A girl is girl we as men should not do things that could get a girl hurt especially physically assaulting a girl. We should be responsible for our emotions and learn to control ourselves.

Blogpost 8: Alicia Keys : Girl on fire

Alicia Augello Cook popularly known as Alicia keys. Alicia is an R&B sineger-songwriter, pianist, musician, record producer and actress. We popularly known alicia keys from her song no one and girl on fire. Alicia keys wrote and recorded for the soundtrack in  "Men In Black" back in 1997. She gets peoples attention by just playing the piano and singing with her soulful voice, in fact she possesses a great interest in music since her childhood. She had begun playing piano and learned classical music by classy composers like Beethoven, Mozart and Chopin, all of whom are her favorites when she was fourteen years old. Many hip-hop artist have said that Alicia has a good impression especially when she's playing a piano. While she is playing a piano they've said that it simply stuns a audience or someone who is listening to her song.

According to the first article entitled Read Alicia Keys’ Letter To You On The Meaning of ‘Girl On Fire’ by Terrence J, Alicia Keys is honored to share her fifth studio album "Girl On Fire". She said that she took out her comfort zone.Girl On Fire is about new beginnings, new perspective and fresh starts. The song is  about finding your own inner strength and channeling it in a way you never tried before. To be “on fire” is to allow yourself the freedom to take full control of who you are and how you want to live your life. To live your passion and shine your light unabashedly!! It’s that moment you choose to claim your power and be extraordinary.
Ever since we heard the chorus to Alicia keys smash first single "Girl On Fire," these MV displayed some of the different roles women play in society, made us appreciate the song more. They decided to put what a women does in her everyday life. There are certain things a women does everyday put the kids to bed, make food, clean the house, you are with your man and there are certain things that you can relate. So that is why we wanted to display and show.

The “Girl on Fire” lyrics are characteristically Keys, evocative but unspecific. You might imagine the girl-power message nods to Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist of “The Hunger Games,” who appears in a key scene wearing a gown of flames, but “Girl on Fire” also speaks to Keys’s life, which has changed recently with marriage and a new son, Egypt. In her lyrics, her aim is to be personal while stopping shy of confessional, a technique she learned from listening to Marvin Gaye. “As a lyricist you love to hear other great lyrics or other great concepts,” she told me. “I really appreciate Frank Ocean’s lyrical style, I appreciate the way that he can kind of draw you into this personal space, but it’s still lyrical. It’s almost poetic, in a way, but it’s very personal at the same time.”

The "Girl on Fireis less a portrait of Keys's womanhood at a crossroads as it is another extension of a career spent predominantly navigating straight down the middle of the road.
The "Girl On Fire" portrays what a women does everyday with her family. Girl on Fire is about new beginnings, new perspectives and fresh starts… stripping away all the bad energy in your life and taking full control of the reigns and how you want to live. There is something really empowering about finding yourself and your own inner strength. On one song, One of the lines I wrote says, “I’ll never be perfect, but at least now I’m brave!”

Blogpost 7: Macklemore : Same love

Ben Hagerty known for his stage name Macklemore, a white rapper from Seattle who actually raps about something that means something. Not like all the other 'rappers' who think that sex, drugs, and money will really have people respect them. Macklemore often collabs with Ryan Lewis and is generally a well known mc in the West. I've known macklemore for song wings, wings is a song about a kid that is playing basketball and wearing jordan shoes, i liked the song because i loved playing basketball. I liked listening to macklemore because his song is not full of nonsense and his song is pertaining to something.

In an article entitled Macklemore and Ryan Lewis New Song Same Love Takes Homophobia Out of Hip Hop by Sarah Swong same love is a song that he wanted to make a long time ago but he didn't know exactly how to address this issue. He said that he wanted to right a song about gay rights and homophobia within the hiphop community in the world. Macklemore's uncle is gay, he said the flagrant use of gay as a derogative term in the hiphop community. Musicians believed that it's a matter of time that like faggot, gay as a lyric. It takes a couple of time but eventually that type of vocabulary would be eliminated just like the song same love did. While more and more pro gay artists are coming out, same love is the first hiphop song that has rapped positively about homosexuality. Ellen Degeneres is a fan that is saying there are no other rappers have stand for marriage equality like they have.

According the second article entitled Homophobia by Anti Defamation League they say that homophobia is a discrimination to homosexuals in many forms. They experience that they are superior to homosexuals, as for macklemore and ryan lewis they wanted to stop this discrimination and vocabulary to homosexuals, for this to stop they released a song about gay's and lesbian's entitled Same love.

In conclusion macklemore just wants this type of discrimination to stop that we should accept the fact is we should accept them for what they are, because they are that way. And being a homosexual doesn't mean that your a bad person it's just a descision a person choose.

Blogpost 6: Akon "Sorry Blame It On Me" Meaning

Aliaune Damala Badara Thiam (Akon) is Some guy that mainly sings the chorus to others rap songs and is famous for saying his name and the rappers at the begining of the song. Akon is highly known for his songs like smack that, I wanna love you, Right now (Na Na Na). I'm very curious by his song Sorry blame it on me, to whom does he address the message in the lyrics?

In the article entitled Sorry, Blame It On Me Meaning, by anonymous akon is acknowledging his responsibility and for his actions for his song he is saying sorry repeatedly, the song is like a confession to his wrong actions. In this song he is apologizing to three persons he is apologizing to his wife, his mother and a fifteen year old girl in trinidad and tobago. In the second verse akon is apologizing to his wife for spending less and less time with her and their sons. In the two verses after the first play of the chorus, he is apologizing to his mother. When Akon was young his father found another woman in his life and since he believed in polygamy, he soon married her without his first wife's consent. To add to this pain, Akon started stealing and was first placed in jail at the age of 15 for armed robbery and later for a 3 year sentence for grand theft auto, increasing the pain of his mother. And lastly he apologizes to a fifteen year old girl in trinidad and tobago, Akon was at club zen, a 21 plus club, where a 15 year entered using a fake ID. Akon started grinding with her and soon after the club was shut down. He apologizes to the little girl for her embarassment and for the club being shut down.

According to the second article entitled Samini Versus Akon: Who Makes A Better Apology Song? by Ameyaw Debrah, I have read is the fact that these stars have released a hit song to make a bad situation right. After an issue has occured between akon and the under-aged Danah Alleyne, daughter of the local pastor, Akon decided to make a song to apologize for his wrong doing. "Blame It On Me" became an international hit and was put on his album "konvicted" but had the R&B star really regret his actions?
From a part of "blame it on me" akon is telling that why should he be the blame for that happening, all he wanted to do was to entertain and it's not his fault that he danced with a fifteen year because the club says its for 21 and above. All he wanted to say he shouldn't be the one who is apologizing and it's not his fault he just said that he loves his fans so he taked the blame, even though it's not his fault.

In the end akon shouldn't be the blame for that controversy, the club should be responsible for that happening because a fifteen year old have entered without knowing she's underaged. I say that akon shouldn't be a part of this situation he just wants to give entertainment to people who is idolizing him to give joy to the people who is listening to his songs.
